AUSA is a company with a clearly international flavor. Headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, it markets its all-terrain multi-service vehicles in over 70 countries through 225 distributors. Established in 1956, AUSA gained off-road legitimacy through manufacturing rough-terrain construction vehicles like concrete mixers, forklifts and payloaders.

This new offering for 2009 includes a 14-horsepower gas Vanguard engine in four-wheel drive or two-wheel drive options. The HUV 4414 includes the same features as Husqvarna full-size models, seats two and has a bed load capacity of 400 pounds.

Other prominent features are 4-wheel hydraulic disc brakes, engine braking, true 4WD, 25-inch tires, 4-wheel independent suspension and a certified ROPS. The 14HP (480cc) Vanguard V-Twin has a governed top speed of 25MPH. All of this for an amazingly low price.

West Virginia is one of those places that has near-mythic connotations for ATV riding. With lush forests and deeply sculpted mountains, many regard the quad-state area of southern West Virginia, eastern Kentucky, east Tennessee and western North Carolina as one of the best ATV riding regions in the United States. The LogRite ATV Arch is simply the lightest, fastest and most maneuverable product for moving logs. Equipped with a 3,200# 2-speed hand winch and 3/8 – inch choker line, it can easily pick up and carry any log that will fit.  Logs 10-feet in length can be carried fully-suspended, while longer logs can drag a tail arch as shown in photo. The ATV Arch is light enough to be thrown over a log for positioning and with a little practice, this becomes the preferred method, rather than trying to back through the woods.

Though it looks like a regular UTV, Cub Cadet’s new Volunteer is a well-thought-out, remarkably functional blend of work UTV and  comfortable backwoods hauler. Though up against a slew of competitors in the full-size UTV segment, the Volunteer is something the other OEMs should keep an eye on. With the discontinued Big Country model—which never really posed a threat--Cub Cadet now has something that not only competes with the big boys but beats them head-on in most areas.

If you’re looking for a smaller version of a UTV that can be easily transported, or a vehicle larger than an ATV, for better work and carrying capabilities, a stop at your local Kawasaki dealership should be the first place to look. You really can't go wrong for the bucks with the 610 Mule 4x4.
